Never mind a good man, a good spa staff is truly hard to find—and keep. Providing therapists with a career map, including opportunities for education and advancement, is one way to attract and retain the best technicians available. To that end, Willow Stream The Spas at Fairmont has announced its incentive-based Willow Stream Energy Master Program. Starting last April, Willow Stream estheticians, massage therapists, and salon technicians began a plan whereby they will earn credits through courses, home-care sales, testing, and treatment evaluations. Rewards include opportunities such as participating in advanced education workshops, attending spa openings, and joining training teams. After earning 250 credits over a two year period, the employee receives an Energy Master diploma. According to Anne McCall Wilson, general manager at Fairmont Spas, the Willow Stream Energy Program is a way for Fairmont Spas to invest in their current staff of expert technicians, empowering them with "more tools, talents, and momentum to provide guests with the ultimate spa experience."—D.D.
