MakeMyTrip.com, India's largest online travel company, recently selected Spa Finder to power its new spa channel, designed to introduce travelers to the diverse world of spa. The spa channel will feature Spa Finder's Spa Distribution Network, an online spa booking engine that allows travel shoppers to research and book inclusive spa vacations through Spa Finder's global network of destination, resort, and hotel spas. 2007 IECSC New York Raises the Bar for Spa Industry Education
The inaugural IECSC New York, formerly American Spa Expo, will host two educational conferences at the Javits Center in New York City March 11–13. Medical Spa Conference
The country's most prestigious educators and medical spa operators will convene March 11–12 to share their successful business strategies. Highlights will include "Best Practices of Award-Winning Medical Spas," featuring executives from medical spas around the country.
Spa Business Conference

DERMALOGICA CHANGES TERMINOLOGY
Dermalogica has restructured and renamed several key product categories in both its consumer and professionals-only lines. "The world is in a hurry," says Jane Wurwand, Dermalogica CEO and founder. "So it's all about easy access to information. We've reinvented our product language so that skin therapists may more easily understand how full our professional offering is and so that retail clients can find what they want without puzzling over product names." Isaac Mizrahi Becomes StriVectin-SD Spokesperson
Klein-Becker recently signed Isaac Mizrahi as its spokesperson for StriVectin-SD, the company's stretch-mark-cream-turned-anti-wrinkle product.
In an effort to appeal to the male consumer, the new international advertising campaign will feature the fashion icon/television personality, "Why did we choose Isaac?" says Gina Gay of Klein-Becker. "Our market research team stumbled on this unlikely fact: men trust him just as much as women do. Men actually like Isaac, and men find Isaac engaging. That makes him the perfect person to introduce StriVectin to men."

Continuum Studio Thinks Pink
Continuum Studio (Chicago) participated in three local and national promotions throughout the month of October to support breast cancer research, awareness, and wellness efforts by raising funds for the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization and Chicago's Lesbian Community Cancer Project. The promotions included the Andersonville Pink Ribbon Shopping Days, PrettyCity.com's "Pretty in Pink" Promotion, and Continuum Studio's own "Think Pink" Product Promotion, in which the spa donated 25 percent of all sales during October of three of their products and gifts to help the cause.

Spa Radiance Brings Help to Hospital
Touched by the experience of a client who said she felt guilty for leaving her terminally ill child's hospital for a massage appointment, Angelina Umansky, owner of Spa Radiance (San Francisco), teamed up with UCSF Children's Hospital to launch Radiant Renewal – Spa to Go. The San Francisco spa recreates the spa experience once a month within the hospital for terminally ill or bed-ridden patients and their families. All services are donated to the hospital by Spa Radiance and include stress-reducing and pick-me-up treatments. "For these patients and families who have been displaced from their homes, other children, and their jobs for extended periods of time, the stress is enormous," says Kim Scurr, director of Pediatric Heart Center and Perinatal services for UCSF Children's Hospital. "Giving them a respite is huge, and we all feel very grateful for these efforts on their behalf."

Solstice Spa & Suites Fight Breast Cancer
In honor of her mother, a breast cancer survivor, one of Solstice Spa & Suites's (Leavenworth, WA) owners created Spa for the Cure, a month-long promotion to help fight the illness. Throughout October, the spa distributed educational information and donated a portion of every spa treatment to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Babor Chairwoman Given 'A Life of Beauty' Award
Jutta Kleine-Tebbe, chairwoman of the administrative board of Babor Cosmetics, received the "A Life of Beauty" award at the Beauty International 2006 conference held in Düsseldorf, Germany. Beauty International, the world's largest specialist cosmetics trade fair, gives this award to recognize individuals who have devoted their lives to skincare and cosmetics and are trailblazers in the industry. Having devoted 44 years to the company, Kleine-Tebbe was instrumental in Babor's entry into the spa business with the Babor Institut (Palm Beach, FL). Dr. Werner Janssen, director of the Cultural Association Stichting EURIADE and a personal friend, presented the award.
Essie Wins Allure Awards
For the 10th year, Essie Cosmetics came out a winner in Allure magazine's "Best of Beauty" awards, published in the October issue. Essie earned the titles of Best Cuticle Cream for Essie The Cuticle Pen and Best Pink Nail Polish for Essie nail polish in Mademoiselle.
DERMALOGICA AWARDED STYLIST CHOICE AWARD
Dermalogica won top honors for Favorite Skin Care/Facial System for the fourth year in a row at the 2006 Stylist Choice Awards, presented at the Hard Rock Live Orlando. The selections were made by 500,000 salon owners, industry educators, skin therapists, hair stylists, nail technicians, and makeup artists who visit the website www.behindthechair.com each month. Iatria Recognized As Best in Triangle
Iatria Day Spa (Raleigh, NC) was named one of the best day spas in the Triangle area of North Carolina, which comprises Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh, for the fifth consecutive year by Metro Magazine's 2006 MetroBravo! People on the Move
Whitney Johnson has been appointed national educator for Academie Scientifique. Johnson's new responsibilities include implementing training programs throughout the U.S., establishing new protocols, and overseeing the development and training of new accounts.
Kate Mearns has been named director of The Spa at Colonial Williamsburg (Williamsburg, VA), which is scheduled to open later this year. She will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the facility. In her role as chairman of ISPA, she represents the spa industry in speaking engagements, media events, and partnership alliances worldwide. Mearns was most recently director of sports and spa for Anheuser Busch's Kingsmill Resort & Spa (Williamsburg, VA).
Maureen R. Vipperman has been appointed spa director of The Spa at Pacific Palms (Industry Hills, CA), which is scheduled to open in February 2007. Her responsibilities will include overseeing the daily operations of the new facility, which is part of a $17 million refurbishment of the Pacific Palms Resort, as well as working with the design team, developing the spa fitness and recreation team, and creating a signature line of products and treatments. Since 2004, Vipperman had served as director of resort spa operations at The Spa at Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort (Dana Point, CA).
