Clear Skin For Everyone

As colder temperatures prevail and clients launch into hibernation mode, it's the perfect time of year to address and finally conquer a range of unsightly skin conditions, such as acne. Approximately 50 million Americans suffer from acne, ranging from sporadic to severe, and are in need of personalized treatment plans. According to board-certified dermatologist Eric Schweiger, M.D., founder of Clear Clinic and Schweiger Dermatology Group (multiple locations) there are acne-clearing treatments available for all budgets. Here are his top recommendations for an effective plan and how to best sell it to each client:

The benefits are that it's often cost effective and convenient.

Red and blue light therapy best treats mild acne, rosacea, inflammation from acne, and as an in-office maintenance therapy.

Benefits include: blue light kills the P. acne bacteria and red light decreases inflammation

Salespitch: Promote it as a weekly, gentle option. It helps maintain a clear complexion and requires no downtime

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) best for inflammatory acne or Isolaz is ideal for comedonal and inflammatory acne.

PDT works to decrease oil gland production from sebaceous glands, kills bacteria deep in glands, and has lasting and permanent effects. Isolaz uses light to kill P. acne bacteria and simultaneously uses vacuum suction to clean pores.

Salespitch: Both Isolaz and PDT are some of best, most effective acne treatments for correction and maintenance of acne. PDT has downtime, which patients need to be aware of.

Focal Acne Scar Treatment (FAST) is best for atrophic acne scars involving part of the face where collagen has been lost. Best for those willing to give a few days is downtime for optimal results.

The benefits include: greatly improved pitted, ice pick, and rolling and scars and discoloration. A visible improvement takes six months but it is permanent as long as acne doesn't return. FAST treatment has studies to back up its efficacy and is shown to be great option for atrophic acne scars.

Salespitch: The most effective for acne scars and should only be done by medical provider as treatment is ablative and laser complications are possible.
