Lasers on Point

The holidays are right around the corner, which means clients will soon be celebrating with friends and family, reconnecting with old acquaintances and meeting new people, so it’s essential that you look your very best. Laser treatments are a quick option to get your skin glowing for the holidays. Below, Dangene, founder of dangene, The Institute of Skinovation, answers commonly asked questions about lasers to help you provide the information clients need to feel at ease before their first treatment:

How can lasers improve my skin?

There are several different types of laser treatments available to treat various skin conditions including:

  • Unwanted pigment in skin, like brown spots, sunspots, vascular legions, etc.
  • Skin resurfacing for facial wrinkles, skin irregularities and acne scars
  • Skin disorders such as rosacea or acne
  • Skin tightening
  • Hair reduction

The Institute of Skinovation offers the Palomar Icon and the Palomar Elite + Lasers. The advanced Palomar laser, which uses the first FDA-cleared fractional laser technology, effectively treats a wide variety of skin issues and imperfections, including:

  • Optimized light rejuvenation therapy treatments, which targets age spots, sun spots, rosacea, spider veins and capillaries on the face and body
  • Non-ablative skin resurfacing, which treats scars, acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles while smoothing and softening your skin’s texture
  • Minimization of the appearance of stretch marks caused by pregnancy, hormonal changes and weight gain
  • Hair reduction for face and body

What is the benefit of stacking laser treatments, and how does this affect the overall result to the skin?

Stacking laser treatments allows us to treat multiple skin imperfections at once. For example, by layering an IPL treatment with our resurfacing laser we can tackle not only the brown and red in the skin, but also refine the texture of the skin.

When is the best time to have a laser treatment performed?

While some laser treatments can be performed in the summer time, typically fall and winter are the best time for laser treatments since you will be bundled up and better protected from the sun. Laser treatments could make you photosensitive and therefore increase your chances of worsening your sun damage instead of improving it, if you’re actively out in the sun after treatment without the proper sun protection.

How long will one laser procedure take?

A laser procedure often can be performed in an hour or less.

How should I protect my skin after a laser treatment?

It’s important to always protect your skin, but this is especially true after a laser treatment. Use a broad-spectrum sun protectant, and look for particular active ingredients, like zinc and titanium dioxide. Keep in mind that minimal sun exposure will prolong the effects of all laser treatments.

Will I notice results right away?

You will always need more than one treatment to get your desired results. The number of treatments varies from person to person, but the norm is about three-six treatments. Improvement is gradual.
