New President of AAD Takes Office

Following the the 73rd Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) in San Francisco, Mark G. Lebwohl, M.D., took office as the Academy’s new president. “I am honored to assume this position, and will use my term to serve as an advocate for patients,” says Lebwohl. “Quality care will be the focus of my presidency.” He will hold the office for one year. Lebwohl is a Sol and Clara Kest professor of dermatology and chair of the Kimberly and Eric J. Waldman Department of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (NY). He completed residencies in internal medicine and dermatology at Mount Sinai and has been practicing dermatology since 1983. During that time, he grew Mount Sinai’s dermatology department from a faculty of two to one of the largest in the nation, with more than 40 paid faculty and nearly 250 voluntary faculty members. Previously, Lebwohl was chairman of the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation, the founding editor of Psoriasis Forum, and has served on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Journal of Skin Cancer.
