Study Shows Nearly Half of Americans Don't Wash Their Faces

As CeraVe's second annual National Cleanse You Skin Week (August 1-7) comes to a close, the skincare brand released the results of a recent national survey it conducted titled the CeraVe Skin Survey, which analyzed the overall awareness, general practices, and facial cleansing habits of over 1,000 men and women participants ages 18 and older.

Key findings of the CeraVe Skin Survey reveal that:

  • 60 percent of men and 48 percent of women admit they often skip face washing before bedtime
  • 66 percent of men and 40 percent of women admit that they simply use body wash or hand soap to wash their face
  • 63 percent of Americans don’t understand the purpose of the ingredients in the skin care products they purchase
  • 65 percent have no idea what ingredients to look for when purchasing a facial cleanser

The skincare brand conducted the survey to make consumers aware of the importance of cleansing the skin and becoming aware of how ingredients can impact skin. The study also showed that despite the abundance of skincare products on the market as well as the plethora of information dedicated to the topic, most Americans don’t take proper care of their skin. Additionally, the survey proved the need for more education regarding ingredients as well as the critical role of proper facial cleansing to maintain healthy skin.
