Meet Victoria Collotta, a 17 year industry veteran currently the vice president of retail marketing and education for Silk Therapeutics. Learn more about the self-professed beauty junkie and her path through the beauty industry in an American Spa Spa Talk.
American Spa: How many years have you been involved in the spa and hospitality industry?
Victoria Collotta: I have been in the spa industry for 17 years. I’ve held a number of positions throughout my career, from esthetician to spa owner, and I’m currently the vice president of retail marketing and education for Silk Therapeutics, a clinical-grade clean skincare brand.
AS: What was the path that led you into the spa industry?
VC: I’ve been fascinated by everything beauty-related from a very young age. As a teen, I was given a gift certificate to have my first facial, and I thought it was the best thing ever. I wanted to be the person behind the table!
AS: What are the most challenging and rewarding parts of being in the spa industry?
VC: My biggest challenge is finding enough hours in the day! But, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping clients to see a real difference in their skin and leave feeling great.
AS: Where do you think the industry is heading?
VC: I think the industry is gravitating toward skincare that’s less invasive yet still effective. Most people lead fast-paced lives with busy schedules and don’t have a ton of time for treatments. They’re looking for high-quality products that can be incorporated into their home routine while still providing great results.
AS: What’s your favorite skincare ingredient?
VC: Liquid Silk. It’s a versatile clean ingredient, helping to rejuvenate skin while taking the place of harsh preservatives and fillers—the best of both worlds!
AS: If you could work in any other profession in the world, what would you be?
VC: I’d probably be an interior decorator. I love creating an aesthetically pleasing space!
AS: What’s your go-to spa treatment?
VC: You can’t go wrong with a classic facial. Ingredient-wise, I switch it up based on what I feel my skin needs that day.
AS: What’s the best advice you’ve received?
VC: “Don’t let fear stop you.”
AS: How do you like to spend your time away from work?
VC: Yoga, shopping, golf, and most of all, enjoying time with family and friends.
AS: What are your three greatest priorities in life?
VC: Family, learning and doing.
