While it has been a couple of years since I last visited Mexico, this would be the time to go, as many spas are celebrating 2012, the Mayan's year of rebirth, with a host of Mayan offerings. Now Resorts & Spas, for example, is introducing a variety of daily-themed activities that combine Mayan rituals and new traditions. Available Nov. 22 to Dec. 21, guests can experience an onsite temazcal ceremony, a classic Mayan beach buffet, a Mayan-inspired fire show, and more as part of the brand's Unlimited-Luxury concept, in which everything is included. I had an opportunity to experience an authentic shaman-led temazcal ceremony on my last trip to Mexico, and it wasn't an experience I'd soon forget.
