Must-Have Trends for Spas and Salons
I had the pleasure of joining a prestigious group of estheticians and spa professionals for the Repêchage 15th Annual Congress on Monday. One of the highlights for me, and I’m sure for the rest of the attendees, was hearing passionate advice from Lydia Sarfati, founder and president of Repêchage.
Here are her top trends for spas and salons:
- Facial Bar. Introduce express spa treatments on the salon floor to increase back room bookings and retail sales.
- The WOW Actives. Provide treatments with proven active ingredients such as seaweeds.
- “Skinification” of Hair. Meet the increasing hair needs of salon goers, who are looking for treatments that address the hair and scalp beyond the shampoo and conditioner routine.
- The Eyes Have It. Up-sell eyelash or brow treatment clients with an anti-aging, soothing, and de-puffing eye treatment.
- Sterile Skin Care. Clients are prioritizing sanitation now more than ever so make this prominent with uni-dose treatments, autoclave machines, and disposable paper goods.
- Meaningful Massage. Make a massage a necessity for clients by providing targeted pressure that helps stimulate circulation, increase sebaceous production, relax nerves, eliminate toxins, and provides psychological benefits.
- Men’s Treatments. Almost half of all spa-goers are men and most are paying for their own treatments, so catering to this growing population could double business.
- Wellness in Spas. Make your spa a health center by teaming up with nutritionists, offering gym membership promotions, slimming body treatments, yoga, and more.
- Post-Op and Pre-Op Spa Treatments. Take advantage of collaborative opportunities that arise among estheticians, dermatologists, and plastic surgeons to offer services that complement operations such as laser treatments, liposuction, microdermabrasion, peels, and various cosmetic surgery.
- Addressing Skin Below The Neck & Anti-Aging Hand Treatments. Aging concerns arise in the décolleté and hands in addition to the face; so provide clients with a menu of services specifically addressing these age give-a-way spots.
