Power Lunch in Review

I've quickly learned skincare companies know how to throw a party as well as they treat skin. Last week I was happy to attend the Repêchage's annual Network Power Lunch – Champagne Brunch in the company's Seacaucus, NJ headquarters. President and founder Lydia Sarfati hosted the gathering to provide industry professionals with the tools to expand their spa business. Sarfati shared the stage with three speakers: Christine Sensenig, an attorney specializing in employment and labor law, Lois Christie, CEO and hair color director Christie & Co. Salon & Spa (New York City), and Jack Panico, owner of Panico Salon & Spa (multiple locations NJ). Each provided helpful business tips from their own experience, but Sensenig caught everyone's attention during her discussion of common hiring oversights that can lead to fines and even more extreme consequences. New treatment demonstrations alongside desserts and bubbly lightened the mood once again.

Here are a few insights from the speakers:

“In this new economy we need to take back our business and become more full service by including nails, waxing, skincare, hair color, retail, and express services. Clients are time poor and would prefer all services in one location. As salon and spa business owners we must adapt and make these necessary changes to re-capture clients.”—Christie

“To be successful business owners, all must understand the legal matters and laws in regards to what is expected of you and your employees.”—Sensenig

“For salon and spa business owners, to elevate business and give back to the community, we must come together and work with one another.”—Panico

“How do we beat average? For better business in 2014, we must focus on delivering exceptional services to turn the average customer into a loyal client. This means turning every spa and salon treatment into a 5 star experience.”—Sarfati
