Secret to a Long Life

Misao Okawa, Japan, oldest person in the world, 117, guinness book world records,Today we wish a happy birthday to quite possibly the only woman not looking to lie about her age or hide any wrinkles. Misao Okawa proudly turns 117 today and currently holds the Guinness World Records title as the world’s oldest living person. Certainly this wise woman knows how to age gracefully, but in interviews even she wonders about her long life. Consistent sleep, sushi, and knowing how to relax are some of the tips she’s shared in recent years when asked. Her Japanese culture—a slower-paced lifestyle, meditation, relaxing activities, and a plant-based diet—has played a role as Japan has the most centenarians in the world, and residents seem to avoid diseases common in old age such as heart disease, dementia, obesity, and more. There’s certainly something to the lifestyle, as Okawa’s two surviving children are both in their 90s!

We may never know the true secret to a longer life, but more time at the spa and embracing a holistic spa lifestyle similar to the traditional Japanese are sure to help improve spa-goers' quality of life and your bottom line.
