Spicy Body Scrub

During my spare time this week I’ve been scouring cookbooks and online recipes for turkey day inspiration. So many scrumptious options contain this season’s spice all-stars, including cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. In addition to bringing flavor to traditional dishes, these spices have warming properties to help rid the skin of winter chills too. Here’s a recipe for an aromatic scrub based on treatments offered at the Six Senses Spa (Laamu Atole, Maldives). This concoction helps to detox and cleanse the skin while leaving it hydrated and silky smooth. And, even though all of the ingredients can be found in the Maldives, they can be found at the supermarket, too.

Maldivian Scrub

  1. Combine cinnamon, clove, ginger, nutmeg, rice powder, and turmeric in equal parts.
  2. Add hot water gradually until it forms into a paste like texture.
  3. Apply and leave on the body for 15 minutes or until skin begins to warm.
  4. Wash paste off.

How do you help clients detox, especially during a season known for excess?
