Study Reveals Link Between Eating Fruits and Vegetables and Attractive Skin

The last few weeks, I’ve been giving the juicing craze a shot. I couldn’t give up chewing entirely to undertake a full cleanse, but am enjoying the extra boost from a veggie-packed homemade green juice daily. Even better, I’ve learned I may reap more benefits on my skin from the increased produce intake. A recent study conducted at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland found that a diet high in fruits and vegetables leads to more attractive skin. Scientists measured the skintone of each subject at seven different locations on the body—cheeks, forehead, upper arms, and more—at the beginning of the study, at the three-week mark, and after six weeks. Participants ate one to two additional servings of fruits and vegetables each day and after just three weeks there were noticeable improvements in the color and radiance of skin. The carotenoids, pigments in the produce, are likely responsible for the new glow. You and your clients can enjoy even better skin with a few extra peppers, oranges, and broccoli tossed in the grocery cart too.
