Sunset Salutations

It’s no secret that New Yorkers love their rooftop bars, but those who want to opt for a healthier option can now check out Z NYC Hotel’s new rooftop yoga series. Taught by yoga instructor Dina Ivas, the Vinyasa-style classes ($25), suitable for all levels, take place the first Tuesday of the month from June through September at 7:30pm. Located in Long Island City, the hotel’s rooftop offers sweeping views of the city. “Nothing says relaxation like yoga paired with inspiring views of the Manhattan skyline,” says Lisa Gneo, director of sales and marketing at the hotel. Having never really taken to yoga, I recently had a change of heart after experiencing a few yoga sessions at Richmond Nua Wellness Spa in Sapanca, Turkey. Now that I’m back in the city, I’m not only determined to continue improving my practice but also looking forward to it for a change. Fortunately, Z NYC Hotel has sweetened the offering with skinny cocktails and light bites after each class. Now I don’t have to choose between working out and enjoying a night out on the town. I can’t think of a better way to spread the wellness word.
