Underground at Le Parker Meridien to Entice NYC

I always love it when someone takes a unique approach to spa and wellness. So I was thrilled when I got the chance to check out the cool new space at Le Parker Meridien on 56th Street in New York City. I love the idea—basically any fitness, beauty, and wellness goals can be achieved at this subterranean one-stop-shop. There, guests can score a fabulous blowout at Drybar, which is a blowdry-only retreat; grooming at Sharps Barber and Shop; and a stylish nail service at tenoverten, a high-end mani/pedi haven. Those in need of a wonderful workout can shape up a Gravity. Finally, the ultimate in relaxation can be achieved at Moonshine, which boasts a funky Prohibition-style design and the catchy slogan, “Not a Speakeasy, a Spa.” I visit a lot of spas, but I must say that this is one of the coolest ones I’ve seen in a while. My favorite accent? A live canary (like those that used to be sent into the mines) sings a happy tune in the relaxation area. Most elements of this space are already open, but the entire concept should be completed in the coming weeks, and I can’t wait to return to see the full effect. It’s certainly an idea that I think will entice New Yorkers to embrace the underground spa scene. Stay tuned for a feature in an upcoming issue of American Spa.
