What puts the "Professional" in Spa Professional?

I've devoted the past 15 years to delivering business resources to spa professionals.  So I've been thinking lately: "What puts the "professional" in spa professional?

Business Dictionary defines professionalism as: "Meticulous adherence to undeviating courtesy, honesty, and responsibility in one's dealings with customers and associates, plus a level of excellence that goes over and above the commercial considerations and legal requirements."  All true, however with service professionals in general and spa professionals in particular, there are some other factors at play.

Here is a good example of that "extra something special" that defines a spa professional. During my monthly pedicure, I asked my long-time nail tech Susan Mattisson of Rosewater Spa her views on being a professional in our industry. Her answer: "To me being professional is making every one of my clients feel welcome, cared for, and special."

In addition to giving an excellent (and safe) pedicure, Susanne is always prepared, always greets me with a smile, and makes me feel like a long time friend every time I walk in the door. As a result, she is booked weeks out and boasts a long list of deeply loyal clients.

To all you spa professionals out there, I salute you. Please let us know how else SpaTrade can help you on your quest to master your craft!
