Canyon Ranch Executive Joins ASTECC Board

Diane Trieste, Corporate Spa Treatment Director for Canyon Ranch Health Resorts, has joined the ASTECC (American Spa Therapies Education & Certification Council) Board of Directors. Trieste has a BS in Business Administration, is a licensed massage therapist and is Nationally Certified by NCTMB. She has been in the spa industry for the past nine years involved with management, operations and development. She is a commissioner on COMTA (Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation) and Chairs the Standards Committee. She sits on several advisory boards, provides educational lectures, and has created curriculum for spa massage programs.

'The spa industry is a dynamic vehicle to reach the public about preventative health care utilizing the benefits of therapeutic touch & the use of thermal applications as they relate to skincare & body treatments,' says Trieste. 'This industry is employing thousands of massage therapists and aestheticians that provide vast services to meet public demands for relaxation, stress reduction and other health related issues. Consistent education and standards is an integral piece that is missing from this growing industry. I am honored to be a part of ASTECC. I feel this educational program provides education based on core physiological effects, supports the history of spa, and teaches techniques that have been used for centuries.'

Also seated on the ASTECC board are:

Anne Bramham, President, Director, the Bramham Institute
Sara Eavenson, Vice President, Director, the Bramham Spa
Ann Moloney, Treasurer, Director, Spa Shiki at the Lodge of the Four Seasons
Nancy Griffin — President, The Wellness Resource, Editorial Director, SpaTrade.com
Marion Schneider — Owner, Bad Sulza, Germany

The American Spa Therapy Education & Certification Council (ASTECC) is a non profit corporation created to bring an objective standard of excellence to education for the spa industry. Through the creation of a rigorous post-graduate spa curriculum that is twofold, Division I — for spa therapists, Division II for Spa Managers, ASTECC offers the heavily regulated program to current educators, schools and even spas in the effort to create an internal standard of education for the industry.

Prior to the conception of ASTECC in 1998, there was no internal education regulation program or recognized national spa curriculum.
