Clarisonic® makes $500k donation to Look Good . . . Feel Better

BELLEVUE, Wash. (Nov. 8, 2010) – This past weekend Clarisonic announced a $500,000 donation to   Look Good…Feel Better, a national program in which beauty professionals empower women with cancer  to deal effectively with treatment-related skin changes and hair loss in group workshops and other settings.  Look Good…Feel Better inspires and helps restore self-confidence to more than 50,000 women each year.   Clarisonic has championed hope for cancer patients since 2007 by raising funds for cancer prevention and awareness. Clarisonic, a sponsor of AFI FEST 2010, hosted the check ceremony in Hollywood at the week-long annual film festival to celebrate its partnership with Look Good…Feel Better.  AFI FEST 2010 presented by Audi was the perfect stage for Clarisonic to applaud new films that capture empowering, transformational performances.

“Our partnership with Look Good…Feel Better is a natural fit since we are both committed to empowering women to look and feel beautiful,” said Jack Gallagher, president of Clarisonic. ”We are honored to contribute to this dynamic program that is helping thousands of women each year.'

Geralyn Lucas, acclaimed author of “Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy”, led a panel discussion about “The Lipstick Theory” and how beauty tips learned through Look Good…Feel Better help restore the hope and confidence cancer patients need while battling the disease. Other panel members were Look Good…Feel Better graduate Dawn Charles, fitness trainer to high profile and celebrity clients, and Robin Enos, Look Good…Feel Better national volunteer award winner and cancer survivor. Guests enjoyed makeovers in Clarisonic’s beauty suite, attended a pre-screening cocktail party, and saw a special screening of “Rabbit Hole”, starring Nicole Kidman at Hollywood’s famed Egyptian Theater.

Look Good…Feel Better is a national public service program that helps women with breast and other cancers manage their treatment and recovery with renewed spirit and greater confidence. Through the program’s free workshops, volunteer beauty industry professionals teach patients easy and effective techniques to help combat appearance-related side effects of their treatment. Operated through a national collaboration of the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Professional Beauty Association | National Cosmetology Association, and supported by a nationwide network of more than 14,000 volunteer beauty industry professionals, Look Good…Feel Better’s two-hour workshops empower women by teaching them how to overcome side effects of cancer treatment such as skin dryness and hair loss. The program also teaches techniques for makeup application and nail care, and offers tips for selecting and caring for wigs. There are nearly 14,500 free workshops held each year.

In honor of Look Good…Feel Better, Clarisonic recently introduced a limited edition Clarisonic Hope Mia® Skin Cleansing System ($149) with a design inspired by the Look Good…Feel Better “Hope is Beautiful” public service campaign and from which $15 from every Clarisonic Hope Mia sold will be donated to the program. Additionally, throughout AFI FEST 2010, Clarisonic has engaged attending celebrities to autograph Clarisonic Hope Mias to be auctioned during the holiday season with all proceeds benefitting Look Good… Feel Better.

Look Good…Feel Better will also be the beneficiary of funds raised from Clarisonic’s broader ongoing PINK campaign which includes $5 from every Clarisonic PINK Classic and Clarisonic PINK PLUS Skin Cleansing System purchased, and $4 from every Clarisonic PINK Mia Skin Cleansing System sold.

“We feel very fortunate to have Clarisonic as an involved corporate partner of Look Good…Feel Better and thank the company for its  generous contributions, which will help us build awareness and expand our programs,” said Louanne Roark, executive director of the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and  Look Good…Feel Better.
