Global Wellness Institute Research to be Featured at World Travel Market

The Global Wellness Institute (GWI), an international company that develops research and resources to grow the global wellness industry, will present research from the Global Wellness Tourism Congress during a three-day wellness tourism program at next week’s World Travel Market (WTM) in London. Designed to educate the travel industry on opportunities within the wellness tourism sector, the program was organized in part by the Global Wellness Tourism Congress (GWTC), a division of the Global Wellness Institute, working in conjunction with sponsor Spafinder Wellness 365. “The landmark study released at the inaugural, 2013 Global Wellness Tourism Congress put the stake in the ground for this travel sector and is the basis for all the conversations being held regarding the opportunities that wellness travel presents for both businesses and governments,” says Susie Ellis, chairman of the Global Wellness Institute. The Global Wellness Institute recently released updated data that showed that wellness tourism continues to be one of the fastest-growing travel categories. During the conference, the GWI panel, including chairman Susie Ellis, board member Franz Linser, and advisor Anni Hood, will discuss how revenues expanded from $438 billion to $494 billion in the last year; distinctions between medical and wellness tourism; why wellness travel is growing significantly faster than tourism; and how wellness tourism is being integrated into national tourism board agendas. Additionally, WTM Institute executives will be holding discussions with Ministers of Tourism from around the world about opportunities to promote their countries’ wellness travel offerings.
