Hyatt Resort Group to Launch Multi-Million Dollar Spa Division
(Summer 2001) -Investing millions in spa development, Hyatt Resorts is the first upscale resort chain to commit significant resources to one of the fastest growing trends in travel -the development of full-service amenity spas. In just two years Spa Hyatt has opened six new spas with an additional five planned in the next year. A new Spa Hyatt web site (www.spahyatt.com) has been launched to give visitors a virtual tour of all of the spas featuring treatment/service menus, spa merchandise and contact information.
There are currently 20 spas in the Spa Hyatt division. Each spa is designed to integrate the culture and identity of the destination, therefore, no two

Indigenous ingredients such as wild mountain berries from the Rocky Mountains are used in treatments at Hyatt Regency Beaver Creek's Allegria Spa and Maui grown coffee beans are the main ingredient in Spa Moana's Kaanapali Coffee treatment at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. Each spa shares Spa Hyatt's commitment to first class service, top-notch facilities and unique, cutting-edge treatments.
Hyatt has long been an innovator in business and leisure travel by paying attention to travelers needs and emerging trends. Recent surveys have shown
that up to 50% of guests use the spa while staying at a hotel or resort. 'Today people are aware of the importance of both physical and mental well-being and they are adopting healthy lifestyles both home and away,' said Holly Porter, who has been appointed the Spa Hyatt consultant. Porter oversees the development of new spas and tracks trends and the latest treatments and services to keep Hyatt spas among the best in the country.
The latest additions to Spa Hyatt include Tamaya Mist at the new Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa which opened in January. This pueblo-style spa facility, located 20 miles from Albuquerque, offers influences of the native Southwest with fresh local herbs used in the various treatments that are changed seasonally. Opened in April 2000, Hyatt Regency St. Lucia houses Spa Coyaba that takes advantage of the beauty of the Caribbean with outdoor treatment cabanas and locally inspired treatments. In Hawaii, Na Ho'ola Spa at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa opened in April 2000 and Spa Moana at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa in July 2000. Both spas offer a wealth of culture and tradition in the spirit of the ancient arts of Hawaiian health and healing. Spa del Sol at the Hyatt Puerto Rico, opened in January 2000, further accentuates the recently renovated resorts' old world Spanish charm mixed with tropical allure. Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort and it's Spa Moulay opened in January 2000 bringing glamour and pampering off the Vegas Strip with a bold Moroccan-theme and the use of exotic herbs and spices in the treatments.
New spas planned for 2001 will be at Hyatt's newest properties, Hyatt Coconut Point Resort & Spa, Bonita Springs, FL scheduled to open this September and Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa & Marina, in Maryland scheduled for a March 2002 opening. New spa facilities are also planned for Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort & Casino expected to open at the end of 2003, Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort with a new spa to open in winter 2002, and Hyatt Regency Grand Champions Resort with an expanded spa facility in 2002.
