ISPA MEDIA EVENT FEATURES ELABORATE SPA EXPERIENCES

More than 170 top journalists attended ISPA's Media Event July 28th event at the Sheraton Towers in New York City. Twenty-two different hotel companies and individual spas wowed attendees with their newest products, treatments, and facility developments. This year, less vendors were featured, and more spas got more creative with branded treatments, private label products, and elaborate experiences that replicated the spa environment. Here's a taste of what happened inside this exclusive event:

Exhale Spa in New York City featured an "Acu-lift Facial" treatment using acupuncture needles strategically placed to yield immediate results. One magazine editor swore her chin was visibly lifted after the 15-minute treatment.

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma, Calif. featured "Bellymasks," a plaster cast of a pregnant women's belly. Bellymasks are popular with mothers-to-be, as they make a great take home keepsake.

Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach, Calif. Featured stretches and mini-treatments to reduce Cellulite. The spa's gift bag included a card with a list on in-spa cellulite treatments, including Algae Cellulite Massage, Clay Body Sculpting, and Manual Lymph Drainage, as well as a home care program, included nutritional, exercise, and hydrotherapy program to encourage the continued reduction of cellulite between spa visits.

Sundara Inn & Spa in Wisconsin Dells recreated the reflexology pathway in their new Spa Lifestyle Villas—eight villas with private open-air bathhouses and spa gardens nestled on the properties' 26-wooded acres. Each elegant villa contains a tranquil treatment room designed in an "organic" style, with seamless transitions from inside to outside. The Villas interiors were designed along the lines of feng shui principles, and environmentally friendly building practices were used.

Willow Stream The Spas at Fairmont introduced their "Post-Game Cool Down" treatment, as well as their new men's only treatment room concept. The rooms feature plasma screens with wireless headsets, leather and wood décor, a library of favorite music and reading material, and Golden Ratio multi-talking massage beds for seamless treatment transitions.
