Jane IredaleJane Iredale, founder and president of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, received the International Spa Association (ISPA) 2014 Visionary Award at the 24th annual ISPA Conference & Expo (Las Vegas) last month. Each year, the award is presented to an industry insider who has made significant contributions the health and wellness industry. Iredale was recognized for enhancing the lives of women with a complete line of makeup that is good for the skin. Michael Tompkins, ISPA chairman, and Heather Thompson, creator of Yummie Tummie, presented the award. “There’s no greater accolade than being recognized by the people who inspire you, and you have always inspired me,” says Iredale. “It was the Oaks at Ojai, in the persons of the great Sheila Cluff, the first recipient of the ISPA Visionary Award, and her ever-inventive makeup artist Linda Winn, who gave me the confidence to think that I should keep going…one spa at a time, one esthetician at a time.” Iredale encouraged all attendees to embrace their roles as advisors to the world of wellness by upholding ISPA’s global best practice of sustainability. She closed her speech by encouraging members of the spa community to continue making a valuable difference, “No matter how small or large your business, we can all join hands and know that together we’re strong enough to survive any adversity, and powerful enough to make the world pay attention.”
