About Ke Kumu 'O Mauna Lani

Throughout history, the nourishing spirit of Kalahuipua'a, now known as Mauna Lani, has been revered and cherished by the people of the islands. In times past, one could only come to this land by invitation from the ali'i, Hawaiian royalty. Now, Mauna Lani invites guests to honor this legacy and join in the spirit of health and renewal at Ke Kumu 'O Mauna Lani (Mauna Lani, The Source). Ke Kumu is partnering with Five Mountains Hawaii, a Big-Island based not-for-profit organization that promotes the natural and social economic assets of the island's healing community. Among Five Mountains' goals is to establish the Big Island as an international destination for health and healing.

Mauna Lani Spa, considered one of Hawaii's most unique spas, features an outdoor lava sauna, la'au (healing) garden, and Hale Nahenahe relaxation pavilion. Recognized for offering a unique 'sense of place' with surrounding ancient Hawaiian fishponds, petroglyph fields and Hawaiian preservation sites, Mauna Lani Spa reflects the Resort's lifework to preserve the cultural and spiritual environment of Hawaii. Its 'Fire & Ice' theme pays tribute to the dynamic attributes of the Big Island: the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Mauna Lani Spa's Kahi Kikaha (place of soaring), a 1,000 square-foot watsu pool, takes the element of Aquatic Bodywork to new heights. Built amongst ancient Hawaiian lava tubes, Kahi Kikaha harnesses the energy and healing elements of the land and incorporates both into every therapy session.
