'Our research shows that Atlanta is just about as hot a spa market as there is,' said Karen Crawford, vice president and show director of the national business event, now in its third successful year. 'There are literally thousands of spas located in and around Atlanta, or just a few hours away, and they are experiencing a surge in growth. 'Spacifically 2001, which opened in September at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, experienced a 50 percent increase in exhibit space over the previous year, and more than 1,100 spa executives registered for the event, with more than 84% holding management titles,' Crawford continued.
'The events since September 11th, however, are creating new business exigencies for spa, resort and hotel operators, and have made Spacifically even more essential to their business survival. There is a greater need now for practical, tried-and-tested methods that find new customers, new markets, new purchasing, hiring and training methods, and efficient new ways to operate. This is what Spacifically is all about. The entire emphasis of Spacifically 2002 is on profitability.'
Spacifically 2002 can accommodate 215 exhibitor booths, yet another 40 percent increase over Anaheim. The Georgia World Congress Center makes it possible to offer workshops, conference sessions and exhibits under the same roof, with greater space and adjacency than before, according to Crawford. 'Atlanta is going to be an extremely exciting place in 2002,' she said.
'This is a show for any executive who is or may become involved with operating a profitable spa,' said Crawford.
