NUMBER OF DENTAL SPAS REVEALED IN FIRST OF ITS KIND STUDY

The International Dental Spa Association reports an initial count of 'dental spas.'

Pacific Palisades, CA (PRWEB) April 26, 2006 -- The International Dental Spa Association (www.internationaldentalspaassociation.org and www.dentalspaassociation.com) has released a first of its kind study revealing an initial count of the number of dental spas across the United States. The study revealed between 125 to 200 dental spas exist across the nation. These numbers parallel estimates by the International Medical Spa Association.

Dr. Lynn Watanabe, IDSA founder, cautioned these numbers depend largely on how they operate as dental spas. She stated, 'We are now seeing an increase in the number of dental practices either identifying themselves as dental spas or associating themselves with providing spa dentistry.' Dr. Watanabe released these numbers at a lecture presentation on dental spas at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry on April 14, 2006.

IDSA co-founder John Chien added, 'One issue of identifying the number of dental spas has been what constitutes a dental spa. In its logical and simplest form, a dental spa is a dental practice that offers spa services.' A more detailed definition has been placed in the Day Spa Association and International Medical Spa Association's glossary. Dr. Watanabe concluded by stating, 'An initial count of dental spas around the world reveal at least 15 dental practices identifying themselves as dental spas.'
