Proctor & Gamble has sold Belvedere USA Corporation after acquiring the furniture company as part of the Wella purchase in 2003. Belvedere is now a privately held company, and Belvedere past president Horst Ackermann and Barry Sanders, vice president of finance and administration, will now act as chief operating officer and president.

Horst Ackermann told Behind the Chair's Mary Rector-Gable: ?e are very excited about our independence. It will allow us to serve a wider range of better salons, academies and other clients without issues of outside influences or alliances. We look forward to increasing opportunities with salons, academies and, of course, the ever-growing spa business. In addition, we are thrilled to be able to strengthen our distribution opportunities across the industry and look forward to opening new distributor discussions in the near future.

The current structure of the company will remain the same under the new ownership. Belvedere operates manufacturing facilities in Belvedere, IL and Mexicali, Mexico. Belvedere design studios are located in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Washington DC, Minneapolis, Boston, Florida and Belvedere. Belvedere USA employs 235 people.
