Rainforest Spa Earns Cancer Aware Designation

Rainforest Spa (County Wicklow, Ireland) is the first spa in Ireland to be officially certified as "cancer aware".  The award was announced by Wellness for Cancer, the first organization to establish standardized, objective, cancer-focused training and business criteria for the spa and wellness industry, worldwide. A member of the global Spafinder Wellness 365 Network, Rainforest Spa will now be identified with a special Wellness for Cancer badge on Spafinder.com and recognized as a provider of safe, therapeutic services to clients who have experienced or are living with cancer.

“Our goal is to help those living with cancer—including friends, family and co-workers to easily find ‘Cancer Aware’ wellness locations like Rainforest Spa with confidence,” says Mia Kyricos, chief brand officer of Spafinder Wellness, Inc. “Cancer patients and survivors are among those who need wellness services the most, and through our partnership with Wellness for Cancer we can help them lead healthier lifestyles and decrease the stress and anxiety associated with cancer.”

The award-winning Rainforest Spa took the initiative to develop a program of specialized spa cancer care treatments due to the increasing number of clients presenting with cancer. The newly launched Rainforest Cancer Care offers men and women living with cancer the opportunity to feel as well as possible. Clients can avail of bespoke one-hour treatments tailored to each client’s exact physical and emotional needs in a relaxing non-clinical setting.

These safe and effective treatments are aimed at easing the pain; discomfort and stress of those who are living with the disease and they can be taken before; during or after their program of chemotherapy or radiation treatments.

The team of expert therapists have been especially trained to the highest standards by leading U.S. based cancer care holistic specialist, Christine Clinton, and they hold advanced certificates for carrying out spa cancer care treatments.

Cancer Care spa treatments are endorsed by the Irish Cancer Society, which says: ‘Many patients that are stressed either physically or emotionally because of their illness find real benefit from these therapies and develop and increased sense of well-being and an increased perception of their quality of life.’ Spa Cancer Care treatments are a supplement to, but not a substitute for, conventional medical care. “Studies show the power of touch can decrease stress, anxiety, depression, pain and fatigue for both cancer patients and survivors, and these individuals receive many benefits from wellness and spa services,” says Julie Bach, executive director of Wellness for Cancer. “We are excited that Rainforest is committed to providing clients with the services that will help them manage medical treatments and lead healthier lifestyles.”

Medical specialists treat cancer as a chronic disease, and recognize the need for patients and survivors to lead healthy lifestyles, due to the increased risk of additional diseases and conditions as a result of certain cancer treatments.
