Spa.com Succumbs to Dot.com Bust

Redwood City, Califoria. Spa.com has become another victim of the dot.com bust. The company has closed its doors and will be filing bankrupcy, leaving their employees among the 50,000 to be layed off as a result of the end of the dot.com mania.

The Silicon Valley online reservations company had a promising start, with marketing savvy co-founders Jackie Herman and Junko Io, and a heavy-hitting board of directors. The company never received venture capital funding, but had accomplished a lot with a little. They built up some good will in the industry, but were a no-show at the ISPA conference in Las Vegas, leaving people wondering if the company would make it to 2001.
