These days, coffee isn’t Seattle’s only popular export as Penelope & The Beauty Bar sends its European-based skincare services to the East coast. Its new sister location, Daphne (New York City), opened in June in a compact space with a bright, inviting storefront in Nolita. The tailored Biologique Recherche facials and body treatments are already creating a buzz in the neighborhood and are bringing in a steady stream of clients. “We customize all treatments according to the client’s skin that day,” says founder Angela Rosen. The signature service, The Glow ($299, 60 minutes), includes a simultaneous French sudatonic slimming and detoxifying body wrap and a lifting facial for instant rejuvenation. Retail is also a focus with the full Biologique Recherche line available for purchase. In addition to skincare services, the in-house ILoveSugar sugaring studio provides traditional Egyptian-sugaring hair removal. Says Rosen, “We’re thrilled to open in New York and to bring the leading services from Penelope & The Beauty Bar to a new market.”
