Take a Tour of Grand Hotel Tremezzo's Spa

The Poet William Wordsworth may have described Lake Como as “a treasure whom the earth keeps to itself”, but the region’s beauty is too spectacular not to share.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a family-owned hotel built on the Lake Como waterfront in 1910, paved the way for the opulent accommodations that now dot the lakes and continue captivating visitors.

T Spa at Grand Hotel Tremezzo is housed in the historic Villa Emilia. The Mosaico nail studio is just one of the relaxing settings at the spa.

With views of the sparkling lake from plush sitting areas and Juliette balconies, guests can’t help but relax and let their worries float away. Recently, the hotel made a bigger splash in the wellness world with the debut of T Spa

T Spa features an Italian white-marble hammam

Part of an extensive renovation project that also included upgrading rooms, re-landscaping the garden, and more, T Spa is housed in the historic Villa Emilia, which dates back to the 18th century and sits adjacent to the main hotel. The old-world charm of the villa was preserved by the local architectural firm of Venelli Kramer, which oversaw the restoration of the frescoes, seminato floors, mosaics, vaulted ceilings, and fireplaces to their original glory as well as converting the space from the villa to a 10,000-square-foot spa sanctuary.

T Spa has a romantic spa suite for couples.

Throughout the multi-level retreat are impressive amenities that seamlessly blend modern luxury with traditional decor. One is the 15-meter heated infinity pool, which was redone with Travertino silver marble and colorful Murano glass and features two parallel soaking areas linked by an arched passageway. Beneath the serene surface are therapeutic water features, including beds of air bubbles, cascades, jets to massage the soles of the feet, hydro massage in the outdoor Jacuzzi, and an adjustable current for serious swimmers. Even more impressive is the panoramic view of Lake Como and the town of Bellagio through floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water. Private T Spa ($685, 2 hours) gives couples access to this space after-hours for the ultimate in romance and relaxation. Also popular for couples is Suite Time Together ($571, 1 hour 50 minutes; $685, 2 hours 20 minutes) in the wood-clad T Spa Suite, which features a whirlpool tub, sauna, and Turkish steam bath with cascading jets. Duos are treated to a 50- or 80-minute massage followed by herbal tea and fresh-baked sweets from the chef. According to former spa director Chiara Campo, couples’ treatments are especially popular thanks to the romantic setting.

Another standout feature is the Hammam Suite, a luxurious airy chamber with a domed ceiling. It is covered in Italian Lasa white marble that fills the lower level of the villa. Here, in the only luxury hammam on Lake Como, spa-goers can choose from four Hammam Rituals (starting at $114, 20 minutes) following Turkish bathing traditions. In the other five treatment rooms and Mosaico nail studio, the spa’s staff of 14 therapists provides a full menu of treatments incorporating ESPA products. “ESPA has created unique treatments that take inspiration from Lake Como,” says Campo. “Our treatments are tailored to guests’ specific needs on the day, whether it is for relaxation or total escapism from the outside world with rituals inspired by traditional cultures and advanced treatments performed by highly trained therapists concentrating on stress relief, optimizing health, and age-defying results.”

The luxe relaxation lounge

The signature Lake Como Relaxing Ritual ($297, 1 hour 50 minutes) incorporates botanicals that grow naturally on the banks of Lake Como to calm the mind and soothe the body. The full-body experience includes a foot ritual; a lemongrass, lime, and thyme body scrub; and a relaxing massage with muslin poultices containing lavender and other local herbs. The Grand Garden Ritual ($297, 1 hour 50 minutes) boasts the benefits of fragrant flowers from the hotel’s garden in a holistic aromatherapy massage and facial.

The inviting infinity pool

Knowing that some spa-goers wouldn’t want to leave, T Spa also features one exclusive overnight suite. The nearly 1,000-square-foot Suite Emilia is conveniently located within Villa Emilia and offers its inhabitants private access to T Spa facilities and a peaceful spa escape. “The spa is by definition a place where guests can experience a sense of peace and where the staff has the ability to positively transform a guest after a one-hour treatment,” says Campo. “Every spa experience should be not just enjoyable but also transformative.” The Grand Hotel Tremezzo and T Spa have secured their status as beacons of hospitality and relaxation and are set to share the treasure of Lake Como with visitors looking to say buon giorno to bliss.
