Gift Insights on Black Friday

Though you won’t find me camped out in lines today waiting on doorbusters, thousands will be. Don't let that precious time go to waste; a new holiday shopping survey provides useful insight to ensure recipients appreciate your generosity. Lippe Taylor, a leading integrated marketing communications agency and SheSpeaks, a leading women’s influencer platform, surveyed more than 3,000 women about family finances, holiday spending, re-gifting, and the worst gifts received. Here are a few helpful highlights to get you through the shopping season unscathed:

  • About one-third of women say extended family members give the worst holiday gifts, followed by parents/parents-in-law (17 percent), co-worker/boss (9 percent), friend (6 percent) and husband/boyfriend/partner (5 percent).
  • One-quarter of women say they will re-gift this year
  • The worst holiday gifts ever received were a tacky knick-knack/tchotchke (22 percent), followed by clothes in the wrong size, a used present, cheap-looking jewelry, an ugly sweater, and low-end beauty products.

Encourage clients to shop in your spa’s retail area for two of the most wanted gifts for women, gift cards and beauty products. What do you promote in your spa for holiday gifts?
