How to Expand Your 'Spasibilities' With Couples Promotions

Make it fun for friends and couples to visit your spa! Now is the perfect time to promote romantic spa retreats.  Clients won't know that you offer special service packages for couples, unless you actively promote them in your spa service menu. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Bridal Season and year-end holidays are terrific for couple's promotions.  Take advantage of these special events, holidays and seasons, while offering exciting new spa gift packages.

Seasonal Couples & Good Friends Spa Services:  Promote `Romantic Gifts Of Beauty' for men and women to enjoy together throughout the year.  You can also promote pairs of treatments, for women or men who may just want to come rejuvenate with a friend.  Create service packages that both men and women can enjoy together or privately during a simultaneous visit.

Here are a few spa couple's services to consider:

  • Matching Romantic & Signature Facials
  • Massage Therapies
  • Microdermabrasion & Microcurrent Therapies
  • Reflexology & Reiki Therapies
  • Signature Body Wraps, Hydrotherapy, Mud & Body Treatments
  • Spa Manicures & Pedicures
  • Sunless Tanning -- Body Bronzing
  • Romantic Spa Luncheons With Roses, Champagne & Candy
  • Special Spa Gifts & Gift Baskets With Robes & Slippers
  • Day Of Beauty

Sweet Spa Suites:  Whether or not you have designed your spa to simultaneously accommodate friends and couples, you may still promote couple's packages where two spa clients may come in at one time. If you have the physical space to service both people within one room, that's the best way for them to enjoy each other's company. Many spas, day spas and resorts charge extra to book the entire suite for a half or full day, while allowing extra time for their own special and/or romantic privacy.  If this space is not available, keep it in mind for the future.

Promoting Double Packages:  You must remember that most women are comfortable in a spa setting and they especially enjoy both giving and receiving spa gift certificates.  However, both your male and female clients can equally purchase a spa couples or friends packages for them to enjoy together.  You just need to create the promotions with exciting advertising and promotional materials, showing photographic illustrations of a man and a woman together or perhaps two women together.

No one really knows what goes on behind closed doors--especially if they haven't tried one of your spa services before.  Plan a photography session to take photographs of both a man and a woman enjoying a facial, massage or spa manicure together.  Take other photographs of two men and then even more of two or three women relaxing in your spa together.  Take shots of these pairs and groups in spa robes enjoying a tranquil spa service as well as a lunch treat.  The key is to make the models look relaxed, rejuvenated and happy together.  Pose your gently smiling models with their eyes on each other or with their eyes closed.

Create colorful advertisements in the `Style and `Bridal Sections of your regional magazines and newspapers.  Professionally create and place large signs, counter cards, tent cards and point-of-purchase materials throughout the entire spa.  It is smart to offer double and couple's packages in your service menu through your `Spa Wish List' promotions.  Buy advertisements in special Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Year-end Gift Giving Sections of your local newspapers and regional magazine.  Create special postcards, email blasts and newsletters to promote your double spa service packages.

Rent a booth at bridal fairs to promote `Bridal Packages' and Couple's Spa Services. Plan a special `Couples Night'. Send a media release with a photograph to the local media, offering to customize a story for their newspaper, magazine or TV show.  You can effectively promote couple's packages and double services at full price or with a small, yet elegant free gift.  Start with small $250 mini-packages and include some that go up $500, $1000 and even up to $3000.

Series & Spa Doubles Membership Clubs: You can even offer a set of Double Spa Series Packages so they can come back at least three to six times together.  Create the opportunity for couples to buy a smaller series of double -- six facials or massage treatments.  Or, take this series of your best spa packages to promote them as a new `Spa Couples & Doubles Membership Program.  Include in the small print that both services must be booked at one time at least 48 hours advance notice.

Surprise Them With Extra Special Touches:  Make your spa gift packages unique. Refreshments, candy, champagne, wines or international coffees and teas will make their couple's packages and their time together extra special.  Create some packages with take-home skincare, haircare, aromatherapy or beautycare products. Work with a local hotel, florist or limousine service to make additional extras available.  Surprise your spa guests with some special take home gift.

Most couples and friends won't think of asking you about booking a service together, without a little hint from the Spa Director, Cupid or you!  Plant the seeds for romantic and fun rejuvenation in your spa, while doubling your potential service sales.  Your clients will not only love you for the wonderfully creative thought ?V they will love sharing each other's company while relaxing, rejuvenating and having some extra special escape time  in your spa.
