How CBD Became the Menu Megastar at California's Spa Ojai

Whenever you update your spa’s menu, you hope for a hit that will really resonate with spa-goers. That’s exactly what spa director Kate Morrison and her staff experienced when Spa Ojai at Ojai Valley Inn (CA) introduced the Advanced CBD Oil Massage ($205, 50 minutes; $380, 1 hour 40 minutes). Harnessing the healing power of hemp-derived CBD oil from CBD Care Garden, the treatment works to reduce chronic joint and muscle pain caused by arthritis, injury, and stress in the body.

“The guest response has been really positive,” says Morrison. “Guests love the natural, earthy scent of the oils and the feel of the slip on their skin. Skin is left hydrated and nourished, but there is a sense that the oil is active and stimulating.” According to her, guests are also happy about the improved sleep they’re experiencing after the massage. And it’s not just clients who are raving about the treatment.

"As an added benefit, our therapists are loving the positive effects on their fingers, hands, and arms,” says Morrison. The therapeutic benefits are certainly an enticement as is the fact that the product is 100 percent organic, hemp-derived, and free of THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis. Says Morrison, “CBD is a growing trend in the industry, but it was important to us to find a product that we could believe in and that didn’t have direct association to cannabis.”
