Equinox, the high performance lifestyle fitness brand, announced Christopher Norton as CEO of its hotel business. Norton brings more than 28 years of industry experience to his new role. Previously, he was the president of global product and chief operating operator of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts where he oversaw the global hotel operations and defined the brand's future product vision through design and construction. As CEO, Norton will oversee all facets of Equinox's luxury hospitality business and help execute future growth strategy. "The Equinox philosophy of achieving a balanced life resonated with me both personally and professionally," says Norton. "Designing premiere guest experiences with holistic health in mind is already an inherent part of my DNA and I see tremendous opportunity for the Equinox brand to redesign the luxury consumer experience in hospitality.”
Since its founding in 1991, Equinox has developed a lifestyle brand that represents service, expertise, innovation, attention to detail, market leadership, and results. Equinox expects to open as many as 75 hotels across the globe and will launch its first property in 2018 at Related's Hudson Yards development on Manhattan’s west side. The hotel’s Yabu Pushelberg-designed property will feature a 60,000-square-foot Equinox gym and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. An additional Equinox hotel is also slated to open in Los Angeles in 2019. Equinox's hotel properties will cater exclusively to the high performance traveler and will combine luxury and wellness to offer a 360-degree lifestyle experience and an integrated selection of Equinox-branded fitness classes, personal training, and spa services—facial, massage, and specialty treatments. The brand’s hotel properties will also maintain its signature luxury aesthetic, distinct brand voice, and commitment to science-based holistic health.
