The Spa at Laguna Cliffs (CA) has made green aspirations a reality with a green-o-vation of its facilities and an updated menu using organic products. Rather than gutting the spa and starting over when it was time for an update, designer George Bernal of George Bernal Custom Made (Santa Ana, CA) led a cosmetic remodel that involved up-cycling and repurposing existing features to retain natural beauty, promote green initiatives, and reduce unnecessary waste. Repurposed features include new laminate on existing lockers, reframing existing mirrors, re-stained wood features, and frosted glass shelving to imitate sea glass. Other eco-friendly additions include the usage of reclaimed wood art installations throughout the spa, custom lighting sconces with mosaic glass and reclaimed wood, and mother-of-pearl spa alcoves. In addition to the interior update, the spanow offersÉminence Organic Skin Care and Body Bliss products, as well as a “Do Organic, Be Organic, and Live Organic” concept where guests can nourish themselves naturally both inside and out with treatment and cuisine pairings offered seasonally that feature locally sourced ingredients. It’s the ultimate example of going green.
