Cheery Chocolate

I’m a firm believer in the power of chocolate. Not only is it delicious to eat and delightful in spa treatments, countless scientific studies have provided evidence of cocoa’s healthy benefits. The latest update came last month from a study in the Nature Neuroscience journal. It found a group of healthy middle-aged participants performed better on memory tests after drinking an antioxidant-rich, cocoa flavanol mixture. Their memories showed improvement equivalent to people twenty or thirty years younger. Talk about a fountain of youth and reason to indulge in chocolate treats (in moderation of course). Sip on this high protein, chocolaty smoothie from Aloha for boost of mental and physical energy.

 

Velvety Chocolate Smoothie

2 cups of almond milk

3 large Medjool dates, pitted

1 tbsp of unsweeted cocoa powder

2 tbsp of Aloha Premium Protein Vanilla

1 tbps of hemp seeds (optional)

1 large frozen banana (peeled)

6-8 large ice cubes

 

Steps:

  1. Combine all ingredients in high-speed blender.
  2. Puree until smooth.
  3. Add more almond milk for thinner consistency or add more protein powder for thicker, heartier smoothie.
