Get Moving on Women's Health and Fitness Day

While we should and do celebrate health and fitness every day, it never hurts to have one day where we bring special attention to a healthy lifestyle for those who haven’t jumped on board yet. “Our goal for this national event is to encourage women to take control of their health: to learn the facts they need to make smart health choices, and to make time for regular physical activity," says Patricia Henze, executive director of the Health Information Resource Center, organizer of the event. "Women's Health and Fitness Day is also designed to showcase the many women's health resources available through the local organizations that will host events on Wednesday, September 28, 2016." Several spas, hospitals, clubs, and other organizations throughout the country have special events planned to celebrate women’s health and wellness today.

St. Somewhere Spa at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort (FL) is offering a complimentary morning yoga class on the beachfront of the resort. It is open to the public, so anyone can participate. In addition, resort guests or locals who attend the yoga class or refer to the National Women’s Health and Fitness Day promotion that day can receive 20 percent off spa treatments and 10 percent off spa retail products.

At Chelsea Wellness Center (MI) all reactivation all enrollment and reactivation fees will be waived. Women can enter a special raffle to win a personal training starter package, a one-hour massage, or a $25 gift card each time they work out from September 26 through October 2. Chelsea will also host “Eat Healthy – Get Fit!” free of charge this Wednesday at 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. This workshop stresses the importance of fitness for women. Women can learn how to make healthy food choices and other diet changes to improve their health.
