Montage Deer Valley Hosts Wellness Summit

Montage Deer Valley bikingI have always wanted to dedicate a full weekend to fitness. However, with a pile of chores remaining from the week and busy afternoons, I have yet to be able to dedicate a continuous 72 hours to my health and wellbeing. But the opportunity for a health-centered getaway is finally here, and many reaped the benefits last month.

July 14 to 17 Robb Report and big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton co-hosted the second annual Health & Wellness Summit at the Montage Deer Valley in Park City, UT. The program featured exclusive medicine and health gurus, including J. Craig Venter, Ph.D., and world-renowned physicians from the nation’s top hospitals. Other trainers and fitness experts in attendance included Gabby Reece, Brian Mackenzie, Steve Jordan, and George Foreman III.

A study conducted by Robb Report and Ipsos showed more than eight in ten respondents stated they are interested in health and wellness. “We've seen a growing awareness nationally that good health remains our greatest individual wealth,” says Janice O’Leary, editor of Robb Report Health & Wellness. “This year at the Summit we have even more new ways for attendees to reach optimal wellness through the latest medical research, lifestyle changes, and cutting-edge technology. This is an opportunity to not just hear the talk about healthy living but also walk the walk—quite literally.”

Montage Deer Valley saunaEach day began with a choice of wake-up wellness activity, ranging from sun salutations with Rainbeau Mars to a hike through the mountains of Deer Valley with Steve Jordan. Enlightening health talks follow the morning’s activities—"Sitting Smart for Your Heart" with cardiologist Erin Michos, M.D., of Johns Hopkins Medicine, "The Longevity Lifestyle" with Gary Small, M.D., of UCLA Health, and "The Secrets of Sleep" with Charles Czeisler, M.D., of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In the afternoon, guests chose from a range of physical activities, from XPT Extreme Performance Training sessions, to agility training, to Pilates.

The entirety of the Summit is focused on health and wellness, with healthy cooking classes and relaxing spa treatments available to keep guests fueled and relaxed.
