Month for Poses

The yoga community lost a great leader and teacher last month in B.K.S. Iyengar, who brought the practice of yoga to a wider range of people. He made poses accessible for all and showed how anyone and everyone can benefit from a yoga practice. September, also known as Yoga Month, brings the perfect opportunity to maintain his legacy and introduce more guests to the yoga offerings at your spa and resort. Many luxe locales are taking advantage of it and here are just a few of the perfectly posed promotions available through the end of the month.

  • Terranea Resort, A Destination Hotel, will once again host what has grown to become Los Angeles’ largest outdoor yoga gathering on Sept. 21. In addition to the annual yoga day event, Terranea will be offering complimentary classes at the resort throughout the month of September. Open to the public, the free yoga event begins with an outdoor wellness marketplace. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with fitness experts from The Spa at Terranea who will share tips on exercise routines, staying fit and more; enjoy a lululemon trunk show previewing the latest athletic wear, view the current line of TOMS eyewear, and create personalized kicks with a ‘Style Your Sole’ event featuring TOMS footwear artists. Fruit smoothies and healthful bites from the Spa Café will also be served. For the main event, participants will spread out their mats on the 16,000-square-foot oceanfront Palos Verdes Meadows for sunset salutations.
  • The Spa at Rancho Valencia and fitness center were expanded with a new line up of fitness classes, spa treatments and wellness programs. The resort’s fitness center was further expanded with the addition of a 1,000-square-foot Serenity Yoga Pavilion that now hosts numerous yoga sessions, fitness classes, exercise programs and retreats hosted by top-tier fitness and wellness professionals.
  • Rancho La Puerta (Tecate, Mexico) is featuring a series of yoga classes offering yoga for insomnia, low back pain, digestion and more. Guests will learn about the common tips for a better night sleep, increase mobility and manage pain, and how to keep the body flowing.
  • Mayflower Grace (Washington, CT) offers full moon guided meditation and moon salutation yoga on full moon days through October. Surrounded by the scents and sounds of the night, this multi-sensory journey is complimentary for hotel guests and private sessions are available at an added cost.
