Earlier this week I shared the unique business benefits of different natural aromas (Scents of Style). Aromatherapy is key to creating the right mood in your spa and helping clients reach their relaxation goals. New research shows just how powerful an effect the herb lavender can have on behavior. In a study published this month in the journal Frontiers, researchers found that environmental factors, such as aromas and specifically lavender, influence the degree of interpersonal trust in a group of people. They compared the level of trust within the group in a room filled with the scent of peppermint and a room filled with the scent of lavender. Participants in the lavender room showed a higher level of trust than those in the peppermint-scented room, as indicated by the amount of money they were willing to entrust to others in a game.
How do you think this trusty herb could be useful in your spa?
