IECSC Celebrates 7th Anniversary in New York City with Record-Breaking Participation

The 2009 International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference (IECSC) co-located with the International Beauty Show New York held April 26-28 attracted an impressive 9,900 spa and beauty professionals to the nation's beauty and fashion capital, New York City. This year IECSC New York celebrated its 7th anniversary and has become the premier spa event in the northeast region of the country. Spa owners, managers, estheticians, cosmetologists, massage therapists, medical estheticians and doctors converge at IECSC to discover and learn about the latest trends in the spa industry and purchase products from such suppliers as Repechage, Eminence Organic Skin Care, Physiodermie and numerous others.

'The packed aisles and happy exhibitors we saw at IECSC and IBS clearly demonstrates the importance of these shows to the beauty and spa industries,' said Dana Lupton, VP/Group Show Director, Questex Media Group. 'When we help our exhibitors drive their business forward and move product off their shelves, and provide attendees opportunities to advance their business or craft with new ideas and skills, we've accomplished our goal.'

IECSC exhibitors received a great reception from the professionals in attendance. "Thank you for putting on an excellent show in New York. LightStim sold almost all the stock we brought and took orders and follow-up which will double or triple that," said Steve Marchese, President, LightStim International, Inc. "All the buyers were in the mood for spending and we didn't hear a peep about the economy!"

"We had more sales on day one of IECSC New York than we made in all three days of previous shows," added Milady.

Overall, IECSC New York had more than 250 exhibitors showcasing the latest in facial treatments, skin care lines, retail products, cosmetics, equipment/furniture, nutrition and health products, microdermabrasion equipment, aromatherapy, spa clothing, electrolysis/hair removal and spa décor.

In addition to an energetic show floor, spa professionals took advantage of the six conference programs and more than 45 free educational classes focusing on business-building content and the latest in spa treatments and techniques — all to help spa owners and professionals gain valuable perspective on what it takes to run and maintain a profitable spa business. Advanced education courses and workshops from such organization as The American Spa Therapy Education & Certification Council (ASTECC) and CIDESCO International were held again and extremely popular with attendees.

Next year IECSC New York will be held March 7-9, 2010 alongside IBS New York at the Javits Center in New York City. For show information, please visit www.iecsc.com/ny.

Additional networking and educational opportunities for spa and salon professionals are available at IECSC Las Vegas being held June 13-15, 2009 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Visit www.iecsc.com/lv for more information.
