Institute for Aesthetic Medicine Acquires Medical Laser Dynamics for New Laser Training Solutions

The Institute for Aesthetic Medicine (IAM) announced today the acquisition of Medical Laser Dynamics (MLD). The acquisition delivers a new, full-spectrum laser training program for plastic surgery and dermatology professionals. Participants now have a single laser training resource dedicated to improving patient safety and minimizing professional liability.

'Our purpose is to fill a training-gap that exists between laser manufacturers and laser practitioners,' says Gregg Wright, president and general manager of IAM. 'A gap that unnecessarily exposes both patient and professional.'

The new laser training curriculum is a 2 or 3-day certification class taught by IAM's VP, Director of Clinical Education, Patrick J. Clark, an established expert in clinical light applications since 1988. For some training venues, IAM will offer a third day of training and certification for Medical Laser Safety Officers (MLSOs).

The CME-based classes are designed for users of all skill levels--both physician and staff, new or veteran. The instruction takes the attendee from basic concepts of light and clinical application through a clear path to the most current thinking on how, why, and when aesthetic procedures are performed.

'Manufacturers tend to focus on safe starting points,' notes Clark. 'This certification class teaches the skill sets for safe, effective patient endpoints.'

Clark continues: 'The added training and certification for Medical Laser Safety Officers is an offering being demanded by a growing number of laser practitioners and regulatory agencies.'

Historically, IAM focused on hands-on, advanced laser training while MLD delivered a broad foundation of aesthetic laser concepts. Now, a comprehensive curriculum can be found within a single laser training resource, IAM.

The certification classes will be held in Philadelphia, PA, Feb 8-10 (Sciton-sponsored); Nashville, TN, Feb 22-24; and Maui, HI, Feb 27-29. Participants receive 12 or more CME contact hours depending on course selection.
