Lake Austin Spa Resort Hires General Manager and Spa Director

Lake Austin Spa Resort has announced the appointment of Chris Bird as general manager to the 40-room award-winning destination spa in Austin, TX. Bird joined the 220-person team in February and brings more than 20 years of experience with a strong emphasis in the luxury hospitality industry. As general manager, Bird oversees all aspects of the daily operation of the resort as well as the 25,000-square foot LakeHouse Spa. Providing excellent customer service has been a primary focus of his career and his deep passion for people creates an atmosphere where ideas and innovation can thrive.

Most recently he held the position of general manager at Mii amo (Sedona, AZ). During his seven years at the property, Bird and his team achieved numerous accolades from travel and industry publications. Bird began his career at Canyon Ranch where he spent more than ten years at both the Lenox, MA, and Tucson, AZ, properties in various leadership roles. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in accounting. “Chris’s extensive experience with destination spas and affluent, health-conscious consumers make him an ideal fit for Lake Austin Spa Resort,” says Mike McAdams, co-owner of Lake Austin Spa Resort. Dan Mohr also recently joined the team as spa director. Mohr has been in the spa industry for over 20 years.  His experience includes time as a spa director for properties such as the Hilton Buffalo Thunder in Santa Fe, La Posada in Santa Fe, the Peninsula Spa in Chicago, and Red Mountain Spa in Utah.  He also served as a corporate spa director for Ameristar Resorts, has owned and operated his own wellness company and is a certified massage therapist.
