L'Auberge Del Mar (CA), by Destination Hotels & Resorts, appointed Leah Strohecker as spa director for its 5,000 square-foot beach cottage-inspired Spa L'Auberge. Strohecker's responsibilities will include overseeing the spa. "Leah is a natural leader who has the unique combination of experience in both spa management and massage practice," says Michael Slosser, vice president and managing director for L'Auberge Del Mar. "She will be integral in helping the hotel continue to provide an upscale, beach spa experience with the latest in healing therapies." Strohecker has more than a decade of experience working in the spa industry both as a licensed therapist and spa manager. She joins L'Auberge Del Mar from The Westin Maui Resort & Spa (HI), where she was director of spa. During her time there, she assisted in creating wellness-branded strategies for parent company Starwood Hotels and Resorts and secured multiple top awards for the spa, including Conde Nast Traveler's Top 250 Spas and Travel & Leisure's World's Best Awards. She also served as board chairman for the Hawaii Spa Association. Prior to Westin Maui, Strohecker worked as an assistant spa manager for The Lodge at Torrey Pines (La Jolla, CA) and Catamaran Resort and Spa (San Diego, CA). She also worked as a therapist for the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa (Phoenix). She is a certified massage therapist from Utah College of Massage Therapy (AZ) and is an active member of the International Spa Association and the Green Spa Association.
