Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced the appointment of Jeremy McCarthy as group director of spa, who will be based at the group’s corporate offices in Hong Kong, and will lead and manage the global activities of Mandarin Oriental’s spa division. With more than 24 years of hotel and leisure services experience, McCarthy was most recently the director of spa development and operations at Starwood Hotels and Resorts, where he was responsible for expanding the company’s spa division, growing the brand and providing conceptual design advice, and project management for new spas. He has also served on various spa associations, including ISPA and Wellness Tourism Worldwide. “With his many years of luxury hospitality experience and specialized knowledge of spa operations, I have no doubt that Jeremy will be able to make a significant contribution to the group’s future success and spa development,” says Richard Baker, executive vice president of operations at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Asia. The group currently has 44 spa projects open or under development—20 in Asia; 14 in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa; and ten in America.
