Rosacea is a common skin disease that affects more than 16 million Americans according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Elizabeth Fardon, global director of education at Ultraceuticals, shares tips to share with clients who are suffering from the skin condition:

  • Look at the ingredient label. Before using products on clients suffering from rosacea or sensitive skin, be sure to use products that do not contain any artificial fragrance, colors, or alcohol.
  • Avoid over-exfoliation. In fact, it is best to avoid all products containing any physical exfoliating properties. Use only formulas that are gentle to the touch, and be sure to remove product from the skin using lukewarm water (never hot water).
  • Be mindful.Tell your clients to keep a record of what is triggering their flareups so they can remember what to avoid, including any drinks, food, spices, exercise, heat, etc.
  • Masking. A soothing and hydrating mask can help calm skin irritation and flareups.
  • Professional skin treatment. A treatment like that Ultra Signature Facial is designed to help strengthen the skin barrier.
  • Keep the skin barrier strong. Use products that will help restore and maintain a healthy skin barrier.
