Milady Announces Recipient of the Nicholas F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award

Milady, part of Cengage Learning, and the Cosmetology Educators of America (CEA),the educational committee of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools, announced Melea Blakely as the recipient of the 2012 Nicholas F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award. The award was presented to Blakely at the 18th Annual CEA Convention on July 28, 2012 in Orlando, FL. The Educator of the Year Award is co-sponsored by the CEA and Milady, and is given annually to an educator who exhibits significant contributions toward upgrading professional standards of educational excellence, particularly within the area of student involvement. Blakely, an instructor at the Advance Beauty College in Warrenton, MI, notes that she finds her inspiration in her students. "Melea leads by example not only in the classroom, but in the industry as well,” says Dawn Gerrain, president of Milady. “Her ability to juggle teaching and working as a stylist, all while remaining committed to lifelong learning through continuing education is exemplary. We are proud to present her this honor and have her serve as this year’s Educator of the Year." As the recipient of the Nicholas F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award, Blakely received an all-expenses-paid trip to the CEA Convention and a cash prize of $2,500 and gifts from Milady.
