American Spa Donates Special Edition BCA Beauty Boxes to #SpasPushingLimits Athletes

In support of the seven spa professionals on the #SpasPushingLimits team participating in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Boulder this weekend, American Spa has donated its Special Edition Breast Cancer Awareness Beauty Box to offer some post-race pampering to each of the athletes supporting Wellness for Cancer's Give Back to Our Own initiative. American Spa's own Lucy Hugo, director of integrated media, eastern region, will be participating in the race representing the magazine.

"It's an honor to be participating in the race this year, supporting #SpasPushingLimits and my colleague Monica, and raising money for Wellness for Cancer," says Hugo. “We’ve gone through such a journey while preparing for the triathlon. It’s been amazing to come together with my spa industry peers and push each other both in terms of training for the race but also in raising money for the cause." In addition to Hugo, spa industry athletes participating in the race this year include Monica Helmstetter, #SpasPushingLimits founder and director of events at Spatec North America, Erica Coburn of Biologique Recherche, Cherie Jackson of Frooze Balls, Kristi Konieczny of The Spa Buzz, Doreen Ohlson-Young of Mii amo (Sedona, AZ), and Julie Oliff of Remède Spa (Aspen, CO).

The Special Edition Breast Cancer Beauty Box contains more than six products from brands such as Dome Beauty, Spa de Soleil, Priori Skincare, Sothys, Grande Cosmetics, Au Nautrale Cosmetics, Silk Therapeutics, and more. Each product included in the box was created specifically with BCA donations in mind. Boxes are still available to the general public while supplies last through August 10. Orders can be placed on the Fresh Finds Beauty Box website.

Wellness for Cancer's Give Back to Our Own initiative, the charity of choice #SpasPushingLimits is supporting this year, was designed exclusively to send spa and wellness processionals living with cancer to retreats in order to reconnect and heal. “Our mission at Wellness for Cancer has always been to empower spa and wellness professionals around the globe to better care for clients and guests touched by cancer without focusing exclusively on cancer,” says Julie Bach, executive director of Wellness for Cancer. “With the establishment of the ‘Give Back to Our Own’ Program, and our inaugural partnership with #SpasPushingLimits, we are fulfilling the dream to gift spa and wellness professionals touched by cancer with the same kind of love and nurturing treatments that they are used to providing others every day.”

Since partnering with Wellness for Cancer, the #SpasPushingLimits team has raised $9,000 from over 120 people and brands, including Biologique Recherche, Eminence Organic Skin Care, American Spa, Live Love Spa and Wellness Month, Toska European Spa (Charlotte, NC) Collier Concepts, The Beauty of Hope Candles, Spatec and many more, plus weekend retreats for the Give Back to Our Own initiative from Grand Miramar Mexico, The Peninsula New York, The Langham Chicago, JW Marriott Marco Island, and more.

Be sure to stay tuned on American Spa’s FacebookTwitter, and Instagram, on Saturday, August 4, for race coverage straight from Hugo in Colorado. To donate to the cause, visit www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/wellness-for-cancer.
