Beauty and Wellness Industries Give Back for International Women's Day

After a record-breaking number of female candidates ran for political office, and women’s rights moved to the forefront of our collective conscious, 2018 was dubbed “The Year of Women.” The female empowerment sentiment, though, doesn’t seem to be going away, as International Women’s Day, March 8, was made a public holiday in Berlin in early 2019. While International Women’s Day may be a federal holiday within the German capital, countries across the globe are celebrating women and their contributions to society, and the beauty and wellness industry is no exception.

In honor of International Women’s Day, Banyan Tree Mayakoba and Banyan Tree Cabo Marques (each home to a Banyan Tree Spa) are offering special promotions to guests who travel between March 1 and June 30. The deal offers 38 percent off all villa categories, complimentary breakfast for two, and complimentary WiFi. Plus, guests of Banyan Tree Mayakoba can take advantage of bicycles to explore the grounds on.

Eddie Funkhouser Cosmetics is offering a 20 percent sitewide discount in celebration of International Women’s Day. From March 4-8, the cosmetics line is matching the number the number of pieces sold online and donating product to Good Shepherd Center to help with their efforts in guiding homeless women to self-sufficient and independent lives. "Organizations like the Good Shepherd Center is the exact type of organization that needs support from the beauty industry,” says Eddie Funkhouser, founder of Eddie Funkhouser Cosmetics. “A major part of getting residents back on their feet and out into the world again is providing them with basic hygiene supplies, beauty products, and TLC.”

Dermalogica celebrated the holiday at the YouTube Space in Los Angeles with the Almost30 Podcast and hosted an inspiring panel discussion about the power of women, and why finding balance is actually “B.S.,” which you can watch here.
