Yoga for Relief

There’s no doubt yoga provides relief from day-to-day stresses. Today Heartbeat Yoga founder Sara Walshe is ensuring a special class offers even more for victims of the recent East Village apartment building explosion. “My heart is heavy,” she says. “This literally hit too close to home for me: two blocks from my apartment where I have lived for five years and three blocks from the Ashtanga Yoga Shala where I teach yoga.” In times of tragedy, it is up to the community and businesses (especially those with a wellness focus) to lift each other up and help rebuild. This by-donation yoga class held tonight at 7:30 pm at Ashtanga Yoga Shala (new York City) intends to start the healing process. Participants can pay what they’d like and all donations will be passed along to the NYC Mayor's Fund, earmarked for those affected by the explosion. For yogis who can't make it to class, donations are accepted here:  https://www.nyc.gov/html/fund/html/donate/donate.shtml. And for information and to reserve a spot: click here.
